The New American: A new law in Switzerland seeks to stanch the flow of immigrants into the small Alpine confederation renown for its historic adherence to principles of liberty and federalism.
Regulations promulgated by the law, which became effective this month, prevent immigrants who have received welfare in the past three years from being granted the vaunted status of “citizen” until they have paid the money back to the government.
Other provisions prevent temporary asylum seekers from applying for citizenship unless they have been granted a “settlement permit” (roughly the equivalent of Permanent Resident in the U.S.) after five or ten years.
Additionally, presence in Switzerland alone will not qualify an immigrant for consideration of citizenship status, either. The Swiss government now mandates a modicum of integration into Swiss culture before an immigrant can become a citizen. more …
Opinion by BIBLE PROPHECY TRACKER: The Swiss are tough. Some quip that they are like the Germans without the sense of humor.
But the Swiss seem to have every intention of remaining a country made up of people who embrace the Swiss culture, language and borders. To that end, the Muslim population that in 1980 comprised of 1% is now 5%, and Switzerland is now doing what is unthinkable to the progressive left in the US to do with their Muslim population: denying citizenship for failing to integrate into Swiss society.
The Swiss want no part of migration jihad called hijrah in Islam. Migration replaces the sword for bringing Sharia to Kafir (infidel) culture.
Chain migration is a term used to describe the ability of U.S. citizens and green card holders to bring all of their extended family into the country, down to even nieces and nephews. In turn that group can do the same, making the numbers grow exponentially.
President Donald Trump says this process opens the door for too many uneducated, under-qualified, and possibly dangerous, immigrants to legally enter the U.S. He has been hammering that point ever since police arrested a 27-year-old man accused of setting off a pipe-bomb in a commuter tunnel near Times Square in December.
Akayed Ullah is here because of chain migration.
I have to admit I never really understood it until the failed New York bombing attack. In fact, sometimes I research and compile posts like this so that we can all understand it better.
USA Today published a list of the different categories of family-based immigration and how many people entered the U.S. just in 2017 through each category, according to the State Department:
- Spouse — 112,631
- Minor child — 51,327
- Parent — 85,280
- Unmarried, adult son or daughter of U.S. citizen, and their children — 22,807
- Spouse or child of green card holder and their children — 106,899
- Married child of U.S. citizen, their spouse and children — 20,716
- Brother or sister of U.S. citizen, their spouse and children — 61,733
In a 1790 House of Representatives debate on naturalization, James Madison declared:
When we are considering the advantages that may result from an easy mode of naturalization, we ought also to consider the cautions necessary to guard against abuses; it is no doubt very desirable, that we should hold out as many inducements as possible, for the worthy part of mankind to come and settle amongst us, and throw their fortunes into a common lot with ours.
But, why is this desirable? Not merely to swell the catalogue of people. No, sir, ’tis to increase the wealth and strength of the community, and those who acquire the rights of citizenship, without adding to the strength or wealth of the community, are not the people we are in want of. And what is proposed by the amendment is, that they shall take nothing more than an oath of fidelity, and an intention that they mean to reside in the United States: Under such terms, it was well observed by my colleague, aliens might acquire the right of citizenship, and return to the country from which they came, and evade the laws intended to encourage the commerce and industry of the real citizens and inhabitants of America, enjoying, at the same time, all the advantages of citizens and aliens.
I should be exceeding sorry, sir, that our rule of naturalization excluded a single person of good fame, that really meant to incorporate himself into our society; on the other hand, I do not wish that any man should acquire the privilege, but who, in fact, is a real addition to the wealth or strength of the United States.
Throw in a few expletives and it sounds a little like Donald J. Trump, don’t ya think?
