Washington (United States) (AFP) – The United States, Britain and France launched punitive military strikes against Bashar al-Assad’s Syrian regime in response to its latest alleged chemical weapons atrocity, President Donald Trump announced Friday.
Shortly after Trump began a White House address to announce the action, large explosions were heard in the Syrian capital Damascus, signalling a new chapter in a brutal seven-year-old civil war.
“A short time ago, I ordered the United States armed forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapons capabilities of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad,” Trump said in a primetime televised speech to the nation…more
WASHINGTON/UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) – The United States on Friday blamed the Syrian government for a deadly chemical weapons attack this month and slammed Russia for failing to stop its ally, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
As the prospect of U.S.-led military action that could lead to confrontation with Russia hung over the Middle East, the White House accused Syria of staging a toxic gas assault on April 7 that killed dozens of people in Douma, near Damascus.
“We have a very high confidence that Syria was responsible and, once again, Russia’s failure to stop them and their continued (lack of action) on this front has been part of the problem,” White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said…. more

We are getting closer to the destruction of Damascus. Isaiah 17:1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
The prophecy update starts at 5:45. We’re gonna talk this evening on four or five different topics the first I will tell you the news the good news that we finally can reveal that a huge terror attack was foiled in Australia in July. The interview at the last day of July of the of last year thanks to the Israeli intelligence, I’ll tell you all about it in a few minutes.
I can also tell you that Israel stopped Isis terrorist attacks in 30 different countries due to our boots on the ground and we have people in Syria in Turkey in Iraq we have real-time info and we’re able to to share it with countries. Around more than 30 times Israel Israel tip countries around us. When it comes to Australia we tip the Australian authorities but it was actually supposed to be a bomb that was about to blow up in 80 HOD Airways Airbus 380. Yet I’m at the largest number of passengers on one plane were supposed to fly from Sydney to Abu Dhabi on in probably the first day of August and our information basically was tipped to the Australian authorities and within few hours arrests were made the bomb was found and it was beyond just a bomb it was an attempt to do two things to use explosive and to use chemical warfare.
So great success and finally we can say that a very important Israeli unit called eight 200 in the Israeli military intelligence is behind that what what we call the golden piece of information somebody was just listening carefully to chatter that was going on in Syria and from Syria to Australia and we were able to alert the Australians on that I was in Australia at that time I’ll never forget it the last day of my travel on my way to the airport arrests were made I knew then already that the Israel was behind the information given to the Australians but of course in those days the best was to stay quiet and let the Australian….more

Strikes reported on research center overnight; Syrian Army claims it destroyed most of missiles fired; Syrian Army: This blatant aggression comes in the context of desperate attempts to raise the morale of terrorist organizations that are falling apart.
The Israel Air Force carried out airstrikes in Syria north of Damascus overnight. Syrian media reported the strikes on the Syrian Scientific Studies and Research Center in Jamraya north of Syria’s capital.
The Syrian Army reported Israeli jets striking the research center from Lebanese airspace. As with majority of covert operations in Syria, it claimed they intercepted majority of the rockets. It confirmed the strikes stating “This morning, Israeli warplanes fired several missiles from Lebanese airspace on one of our military positions in the Damascus countryside. Our air defense systems blocked them and destroyed most of them.”… more
Contrary to Moscow’s promises, the Russian military is not pulling out of Syria, but adding four more air bases (one shared with Iran) and 6,000 more troops.
On Dec. 11, 2017, Russian President Vladimir Putin, followed by Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, announced that the Russian military was to withdraw from Syria to home bases. DEBKAfile’s military and intelligence sources report that the reverse happened. A small number of units were indeed sent home, but they were sooner replaced, and instead of two bases – the air facility at Hmeimim and the naval installation at Tartus – four more Syrian air bases are being reconstructed and adapted for the use of the Russian air force.
The attached map illustrates their locations:
- The Tiyas Military Airbase (also known as T-4) in the Homs Governorate west of Palmyra, is the largest in Syria. The Russians are massively converting it into their main center of aerial operations in central Syria. Tyas will also provide backup as needed for Khmeimim, if drone, missile and mortar attacks recur.
- Palmyra (or Tadmor) Airport provides air support for operations in eastern Syria including the Deir ez-Zour province. Moscow has agreed to share it with Iran. The Revolutionary Guards Al Qods chief Gen. Qassem Soleimani is planning to make Palmyra the main assembly center for the transfer of pro-Iranian Iraqi Shiite militias from southern Iraq to Syria.
- From Hama Military Airport west of Hama, the Russians will exercise control from the air of central Syria and the northern and central highways to Damascus. Still more importantly, this airport’s location places it just 125km as the crow flies (173km by road) from Russia’s Tartus naval base on the Mediterranean coast.
- Shayrat, at Homs (which became notorious as the target of a massive US Tomahawk attack last year) is the main landing site for air transports which bring the Russian and Iranian forces troop reinforcements, weapons and spare parts…. more
