We’ve been talking about the spiritual battle and the spiritual struggle that we as believers engage in. We have looked fairly closely at Romans 7. We now understand who we are in Christ. The essential new nature, the new creature that we are. We know we have a struggle with sin. And we clarified, I trust, so that you understand and that you have the joy of the realization that the truest and purest expression of who you are is that longing and that love for righteousness and for our Lord.
Now, the battle does rage and I would be unfaithful to you if I didn’t give you some insight into how to gain victory in that day-to-day struggle. And we want to talk about that tonight. We’re gonna talk about tonight maybe the negative side, how to sort of overpower sin and next Sunday night we’re gonna make a bit of a more positive statement along that line as well.
But to begin with, I want to borrow from the Old Testament a story that will serve for us as an illustration. It is purely an illustration. It’s an analogy. I don’t normally use Old Testament stories in this fashion. But I think it’s so memorable that it works. And I remember when I was writing the book The Vanishing Conscience, that this struck me and became a part of a chapter in that book… read and listen

August 14, eight people were killed in Mali during two separate attacks, seven at the UN mission in the ancient city of Timbuktu and one in Douenza, 130 miles to the south.
Militants who shot and killed 18 people at a restaurant in Burkina Faso’s capital the same day most likely came from Mali, a security source in Ouagadougou told the AFP news source on Wednesday. “Looking at the tactics of the assailants, their physical traits, they probably came from northern Mali or closer to the border” with Burkina Faso, an army officer said on condition of anonymity. No group has so far claimed responsibility, but Burkina Faso has witnessed a string of such attacks…. read more
2 Peter 2:1-2 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. (2) And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
This article is so important that I’ve posted all of it. The Pope did not write the article but two of his top lieutenants did. If I understand the article correctly, one was a Presbyterian pastor and the other was a Jesuit. I just wrote about how dangerous I believe the Jesuit order is within the Catholic Church. The Pope is one, and he is surrounding himself with Jesuits. Remember the Jesuits were created by the Pope in the 1500s to stop the Reformation and they were brutal against believers.
This article is a direct attack on Bible believing Christians and on America. There is so much in it that I really can’t comment about it because right now my head is spinning. This is a direct Hard Left attack because they have figured out that the power base of America rests in the real church, and now they are attacking the power source. I see this Pope as being just as Hard Left as Obama. In fact, he can be the Obama of the Catholic Church!<!–more–>

On April 2, 2015 148 people were killed in the al Shabaab attack on the Garissa University in north-eastern Kenya. Frederick Gitonga, the former chairman of the Fellowship of Christian University Students (FOCUS), miraculously survived the attack. Looking back, he tells Open Doors workers he remained standing thanks only to the grace of God and the prayers of supporters and for the purpose of preaching the gospel.
In the lead up to the April 2nd Garissa University massacre, rumors of an imminent attack circulated. “Sometimes we would hear people saying: ‘You guys will be attacked, terrorists are planning to come and bomb you’.” As a result some students left the university.
The night before the attack, Fred stayed up until 2 AM counselling a Christian friend. The next morning he was so tired he slept in. It was very unusual for him to miss the 5AM prayer session.
That meeting was the attackers’ first target. They killed all 22 people present…. read more
