PREPARING FOR WAR IN THE NORTH, ISRAEL BOOSTS AIR DEFENSES


iron domeIsrael has boosted its air defense in the North following a significant confrontation between the Jewish state, Syria and Iran that led to the loss of an F-16i fighter jet.

While the army refused to comment on the reports, witnesses reported seeing a convoy of missile-defense batteries heading north near the Israeli-Arab city of Baka al-Gharbiya. Other witnesses posted photos of several trucks carrying the batteries on central highways in northern Israel.

Israel’s air defenses currently include the Iron Dome, designed to shoot down short-range rockets; the Arrow system, which intercepts ballistic missiles outside of the Earth’s atmosphere; and the David’s Sling missile-defense system, which is designed to intercept tactical ballistic missiles, medium- to long-range rockets and cruise missiles fired from ranges of between 40 km to 300 km.

Israel also has Patriot-missile batteries stationed in the North and has used them to intercept drones infiltrating into Israeli airspace from Syria. In September, an Iranian-built unmanned aerial vehicle breached the “Bravo line” that marks the Syrian demilitarized zone, and was intercepted by an Israeli Patriot anti-ballistic missile launched from a station near the northern city of Safed…. more

Israeli F-16 Shot Down as Iran Heats Up Northern Border

In response to the drone penetration, Israel targeted a number of Iranian military sites in Syria, including its “aircraft’s launch components in Syrian territory,” the IDF said.

“The IDF sees the Iranian attack and the Syrian response as a severe and irregular violation of Israeli sovereignty,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement following the initial incident.

German Jewish Leader Warns That Jews May Require Police Protection As Anti-Semitism Escalates


Former president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany Charlotte Knobloch claims that Jews are increasingly under threat in public and may require police protection to lead a normal life without harassment and violence.

Ms Knobloch, who is now the President of the Jewish Community of Munich and Upper Bavaria, said that Jews are increasingly under threat, Die Welt reports.

“Aggressive anti-Semitism, from verbal hostility on the Internet and in the analogue world to desecration and destruction to physical attacks are commonplace in Germany,” she said.

“Jewish life can only take place in public under police protection and the strictest security precautions, or it must be completely cancelled for security reasons,” Knobloch added…. more

Russian airstrikes in Syria Sunday killed 53 civilians

The Russian military carried out airstrikes in Syria Sunday morning killing 53 civilians according to initial reports.

The airstrike targeted Deir Az Zor, one of the Islamic State’s last strongholds in Syria. According to Arab media and human rights organization reports, the strikes hit a residential building, killing 53 civilians, 21 of which were children.

A reported 25 were killed in shelling between Syrian army and opposition forces in Hougta outside of Damascus on Sunday, reports claiming a total of over 80 civilian deaths on Sunday alone…. read more

Saudi-led warplanes strike defense ministry in Yemeni capital


The defense ministry building in Yemen’s capital, Sana’a has been targeted in at least two airstrikes by Saudi-led coalition warplanes, local media and eyewitnesses report. There are fears of civilian casualties as nearby buildings were also reportedly hit.

“There were two to three strikes on the Ministry of Defense,” local journalist Hassain Abukhaiti told RT, confirming that Saudi-led planes are targeting the Yemeni capital. He said there are reports that “one of the missiles hit a house” near the military building. “A family was living there,” the journalist said. “The house has been destroyed. It is very likely that the entire family was killed.”

Earlier AFP reported, citing eyewitnesses, that at least two airstrikes targeted the defense ministry building in the rebel-controlled areas of the Yemeni capital. Coalition aircraft still flew over Sana’a following the strikes, the witnesses added…. read more

9 Christians Shot to Death Execution-Style in Ambush


The Tuesday night incident is the latest in a series of deadly attacks carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen on indigenous Christians. Nine Christians were shot dead by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria’s central Plateau State on Tuesday night, Nov. 7, 2017, as they returned from a weekly village market.

Four more were injured during the incident in the Riyom Local Government Area (LGA), which happened at around 7:30 p.m.. Seven were killed instantly, two died later in hospital.

Some of them were part of the Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN), others the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA).

According to a villager, Maria Joseph, who witnessed the attack, the victims were returning from the Makera market in a Volkswagen Golf when they were ambushed and shot at the Diyan junction near Gako village…. read more
