Are You Abandoning Your Ship

John 21:7 HCSB Therefore the disciple, the one Jesus loved, said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he tied his outer garment around him (for he was stripped) and plunged into the sea.

This is not the first time Peter had abandoned his fishing boat. He abandoned his boat once before when Jesus asked him to follow Him.

Matthew 4:18 He saw two brothers, Simon, who was called Peter, and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, since they were fishermen. 19 “Follow Me,” He told them, “and I will make you fish for people!”20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.

Jesus walks up to Peter as he and his brother, Andrew, were “casting a net into the sea and said; “follow me.” Their response; they immediately left all and followed Jesus.

Peter was willing and ready to leave his life and follow Jesus. But what Jesus had in mind and what Peter had in mind were often at odds…. more

Warring On The Inside

I received saving faith one afternoon at home. I was alone, tired and empty. I was changed in a moment in my heart, mind, and will but at the same moment, without me knowing, I became someone involved in spiritual war. I had zero knowledge about spiritual warfare that comes with salvation. My eyes were open that the selfishness and aggressive of man is on the inside. The question for me is, where does evil originate. Someone had to have the first thought and action of evil.

Ezekiel 28:11-19 tells of when sin was found in Satan. Satan, created by God, one day fell in love with himself and he worshipped his beauty and abilities. In Isaiah 14:13-14 we see he brought war against God. Though defeated, Satan has never lost his desire to be God and he fights to deceive anyone he is able, so they bow to him. The foundational sin is pride which was found in Satan… more

True Happiness

Psalm 1:1 ESV Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; 2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.

The way to true happiness is stated in verses 1&2.

To be happy we must not;
1. Listen or follow the advice of unbelivers
2. Go to places or participate in things sinners go and do
3. Be able to relax or sit where God is made fun of

What does this mean? God’s love and grace want our heart to be happy. However, God’s path to happiness is not the same as people’s…. more

Grace Covered My Sin

James 1:2 HCSB Consider it a great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 But endurance must do its complete work, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.

Learning joy in times of affliction does not mean being happy. It is learning to count the affliction as joy because of the benefits it will give.

During times of trouble our hearts yearn for God. The more intense the trouble, the deeper the desire to diligently seek the Lord with all our heart. We now need to be carried and pulled through the affliction and the realization comes that only the Lord is able. I can’t imagine life without Jesus as my Lord and Savior…. more

Delusion Leads To Destruction

Delusion is the opposite of Truth that causes destruction because we live continually sinning against God.

Before I was saved my life was a delusion. My inside life did not match my outside life. As a matter of fact they were the complete opposite. What are some examples of delusions we live in? I am a good person, a clean person, I am kind, patient, and giving.

However, without Jesus Christ in us we are not in truth and able to be that person. Why, Because we do not have the power or the capacity to be good, clean, kind, patient or giving before a holy God. We are born into sin not holiness.

Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all men, because all sinned…. read more

Are You Brokenhearted

This is how the world defines a broken heart and as far as how it feels, this is an accurate definition.

brokenhearted – crushed by sorrow, grief, or disappointment; inconsolable and grievously sad.

A broken-heart is full of pain and sorrow. It will weep with no way to comfort and will lose hope. Our heart feels as if it is literally shattered into many pieces. It is not only emotionally painful but our heart experiences physical pain as well.

Our heart becomes overwhelmed, and the grief and sorrow become to much to bear. There is also accompanying emotions such as anger, depression and even abandonment. Life becomes; how are you going to make it to the next moment, hour or even second of that day? Many search to find solutions through other people or things but there is no true freedom from the heartache nor the mending of the shattered pieces… learn more

Do You Want To Be Different Through Your Storms

Is Jesus Asleep

Matthew 8:24 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered with the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep.

Does it seem as if Jesus is asleep during your storm of heartache? I have gone through some storms recently and the pain in my heart overwhelmed me. I could not have handled the pain apart from Jesus holding me. I asked the Lord to show me the good in this and three days later He did. He gave me a vision of Him standing in the midst of the storm and my pain…. read more

Healing Power Of Affliction

2 Corinthians 4:17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,

Affliction and suffering comes to every true believer and it is not joyous at the time. God does not allow His children to suffer without a purpose. What is the purpose, to draw us nearer to Jesus, prepare us to come home, and to glorify God. I just recently experienced this in my life and I now know it is hard and challenging. It effected me not only physically but I was shown the enormous amount of lies that were running through my head to keep me from the Truth (Jesus). The lies fight against the truth which causes stress and worry. During this time I had two choices, continue to believe my lies or choose to pursue and believe the Truth. It is a struggle to decipher what is Truth and what is a lie because the lies are so deeply embedded. In order for me to know the truth I do the following, I pray, read the word of God daily, and listen to sermons at night while I sleep. I stay in constant prayer and I have someone to help me with the Word of God. If what I am believing is a lie then I pray to have that lie eradicated…. read more
