Ephesians 2:10 tells us our salvation leads to being a new creation in Christ. That is, God through Christ re-creates us on the inside for the good works of God.
Ephesians 4:13 NASB until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. 14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; 15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head,
For believers to do the good works of God, Jesus Christ is the only measure we use to define truth. Jesus says;
John 17:17 NASB Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.
Truth for believers is Jesus Christ and the whole of God’s word. When we allow God to define who we are, our attitudes and thinking (Philippians 4:8) and how we conduct ourselves we mature and grow up spiritually… more
John 3:30 NASB He must increase, but I must decrease.
The Disappearance Of “I”
I actually started out with hostility and humility. But after studying, I found myself at worship. Worship defined by scripture is very different from man’s view of worship. I discovered worship is humility and pride is false worship.
So, false worship is hostile to God and worship in spirit and truth comes from a humbled heart before God.
In John 4, Jesus says, God is looking for worshippers who worship in “spirit and truth.” Jesus takes it a step further, God is looking for worshippers who must worship Him in spirit and truth because God is spirit. As a believer it is vitally important to understand worship God accepts. This is a subject as magnanimous as God…. more
Our flesh makes decisions and takes actions that are not acceptable to God.
Flesh – 4561 – (sarks) is generally negative, referring to make decisions (actions) according to self i.e. done apart from faith (independent from God’s inworking). Thus what is “of the flesh (carnal)” is by definition displeasing to the Lord- even things that seem “respectable!” (HELPS Word-studies)
Our flesh is – ISBE (biblestudytools.com) 6. Applied to Carnal Nature …Thus, the fleshly or carnal mind, i.e. a mind in subjection to carnal nature, is opposed to the Divine spirit,…
Flesh refers to our physical body and also refers to our soul (mind , will & emotions). That is, the mind which thinks not in godly eternal ways but in worldly temporary ways.
The Truth About Our Flesh
Romans 7:18 For I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh. For the desire to do what is good is with me, but there is no ability to do it. 19 For I do not do the good that I want to do, but I practice the evil that I do not want to do.
The truth is, there is nothing good in our flesh or carnal mind. The carnal mind thinks and acts in ways that are hostile to God. The carnality of our flesh will desire things that are independent of God thereby leads to death… more
Jesus is the cornerstone, foundation, and head of the church. When the cornerstone of a stone building is not perfectly aligned the entire building will be off. When the foundation of a building is weak and/or not level the building does not function properly and will fall. So, when the mind is not able to make sound or good judgments concerning what is profitable and godly, life moves from one chaotic mess to another.
Last time we looked at definitions, the instability of unsound doctrine, and the necessity of sound doctrine. It is sound doctrine that keeps us from being pulled into the lies of Satan and having our life tossed around as if it is on a stormy sea. Sound doctrine gives something very important, maturity… more
… Revelation 8 begins with the opening of the seventh seal which results in thirty minutes of silence. All activities stop in heaven at the realization and awe of the magnitude of the upcoming judgments God will send to the people on earth.
The opening of the seventh seal reveals the seven trumpet judgments and after that the seven bowls of judgment.
There are seven angels standing before God and each angel receives a trumpet.
There is another angel holding a golden censer – Revelation 5:8 HCSB When He took the scroll, the four living creatures and the 24 elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
The golden bowl holds the “prayer of the saints.” When we pray, our prayers don’t float up into space somewhere they go directly to the throne of God…. more
Revelation 7:9-17 9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb….
In the first eight verses of Revelation 7 God has 144,000 taken from the tribes “of the children of Israel.” They will serve God and He will protect them.
Now we come to a different scene. John sees “a great multitude” of people. There are to many to count and they come from “all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues.” These people were killed for their faith during the tribulation. The tribulation will be a time of uncountable redemption of souls. This will happen all over the world…. more
Galatians 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
When I read this I did not know what it meant.
Do you think faith works by love?
Do you know what this means?
How does faith work by love?
Are faith and love always together?
The Purpose Of Faith
Hebrews 11:1 ESV And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Saving faith is the only way to please God and faith is not alone.
1 Corinthians 13:13 ESV So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Here we have hope added to faith and love. These three will endure forever in believers. Of these three the greatest is love.
greatest – 3173 – megas – a thing to be highly esteemed for its excellence, equivalent to excellent. (Thayer’s Greek Lexicon)
Do you value God’s love as the excellence in your life?.. more
Revelation 6:7 HCSB When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8 And I looked, and there was a pale green horse. The horseman on it was named Death, and Hades was following after him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill by the sword, by famine, by plague, and by the wild animals of the earth.
Christ has opened the fourth seal.
It had looked like things were going to be normal after all the people had disappeared (rapture). We thought that our savior had come and accomplished so much in regaining order to life (first horse). It was like he was a white knight on a white horse.
But then war broke out which resulted in violence and blood everywhere (second horse). It is difficult to maintain normal day to day life.
Then the crops were effected which meant those who were not wealthy could no longer afford any thing except food and that was barely (third horse).
Every day is becoming more of a struggle to stay alive…. more
