Ephesians 6:15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.
Through faith in Jesus Christ we have received the Gospel of peace. We have been re-created in Christ Jesus and now stand firm on Christ our foundation. The Gospel of peace gives us the right shoes to prepare us to stand against the enemy with stability and readiness. The Gospel of peace is our strength to stand strong because Jesus Christ is the Good News.
So far we are told to stand strong in the Lord, put on the whole armour of God which will enable us to stand strong, put on the belt of truth to stand strong, and put on the breastplate of righteousness. Now we are told to put on the shoes of the gospel of peace. Why? Now that God has peace with us and we have peace with God in Jesus Christ we have entered into war with Satan… read more
We all have times and seasons when fear is overwhelming. This is not about a season, the fear of the Lord, or common sense fear this is a fear that dictates how you live. Fear and anger will cripple, destroy, and alter life when it has a grip on our emotions. This kind of fear is not from God (2 Timothy 1:7). Living life dominated by fear is not what God wants for believers.
Fear effects us physically, mentally, and emotionally. Fear has the ability to cause us to think we are losing our mind and not see things clearly. When fear grips what we feel, think, and see it distorts reality. What we are experiencing at that moment seems real and feels like it is really happening, but in reality it is not. When fear takes over our heart rate increases and our breaths become shallow. It makes the smallest things seem to big to overcome which makes us feel helpless and hopeless. Do you have this kind of experience with fear?… read more
We looked at the bad news last time in order to truly understand how desperately we need the Gospel of Peace.
Luke 19:10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
In this one verse is the bad news, the good news, and the One able to change the news from bad to good.
The bad news is we have all sinned and we all fall under the catagory of being lost. We will look at God’s view of someone who is lost.
In a world that lives believing in relativity, God uses words that mean permanent and absolute. For the lost, their condition is one that is written in stone, so to speak. It is absolute and there is nothing they can do to bring change or change God’s viewpoint. The condition of the lost from God’s view is very bleak when it comes to the eternity of their soul. The life of an unbeliever will guarantee permanent destruction and ruin at death…. read more
Ephesians 6:15 ESV and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.
We have looked at the belt of truth and breastplate of righteousness. We have now come to the Gospel of peace or The Good News.
Briefly the gospel of peace means – The gospel – literally, “God’s good news”. The Gospel includes the entire Bible, i.e. it is not limited to how a person becomes a Christian.
Peace – “to join, tie together into a whole” – properly wholeness, i.e. when all essential parts are joined together; peace (God’s gift of wholeness). (Both from HELPS Word-studies)
According to the definition, the Gospel of peace ties us to God through Christ Jesus (the Gospel of Peace) which means all believers were at one time separated from God and not at peace with God. This also means there was bad news and to truly appreciate the good news let’s take a look at the bad news first.
In the beginning God created the heavens, earth, all plant life, animals, and male and female. The man (Adam) was given dominion over the animals and responsibility for the Garden of Eden, however they did not live happily ever after…. read more
Today we live in a society that demands entitled rights. The result of this kind of thinking is I am a victim of injustice by someone somewhere. The entitlement thinking breeds victim mentality.
Victim means = 1. someone or something killed, destroyed, injured, oppressed, or otherwise harmed by, or suffering from, some act, condition, or circumstance: victims of war 2. a person who suffers some loss, as by being swindled
Mentality means = 1. mental capacity, power, or activity; mind 2. mental attitude or outlook; state of mind
There are those who have been unjustly abused and have had great suffering put upon them. They live with the belief they have the right to their anger and unforgiveness. Unfortunately society today, including the majority of churches, do not offer true hope of being given a sound mind and a heart without fear, anger, bitterness, and unforgiveness.
We will look at people in scripture who endured suffering and had a victim mindset. We will see God’s word shine a light on their darkness… read more
It is not sin that humbles, it is grace – Andrew Murray
“The Greeks called their horses praus or meek when the horse got to the level of training where it would obey the master (the rider) no matter what was going on, it could be trusted in the heat of battle not to do something stupid or foolish. Once the rider knew that he could trust the animal and it would obey him no matter what, he called it a meek horse even though it might be a powerful, thoroughbred stallion, capable of killing enemies in the battle.” (Humility: The Beauty of Holiness (located in the preface) by Andrew Murray)
By this illustration we see humility is not weakness but it is strength of character, self-discipline, and trust. Humility is being dependent upon God unceasingly and absolutely. Humility is being subordinate to one over you in a way that exalts them. The rider gave the commands but the horse had to choose to listen and carry out the command or to do his own will.
Humility Vs. Pride
To be humble is to be absent of pride, as in: James 1:21 ESV Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
It is by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ we are saved from the wrath of God. It is through the humility in our hearts that we will be welcoming to what God says…. read more
Watchman Should Warn When They See The Sword Coming
Ezekiel 33:6 AMP “But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.”
I read an article recently stating how uninterested most churches are in end-time prophecy. It makes the heart grieve and yearn even more to warn of the time we are living in.
In Mathew 24 and Luke 17 Jesus is telling His disciples the signs that will warn the Son of Man is returning to judge the earth. Though Jesus says no one but the Father knows the exact day and hour, we are to discern the times we are living. Are there current signs indicating His soon return?
One of the signs, people will live life as if nothing is going to change.
Again we hear Jesus telling the signs of His second coming. Luke repeats Matthew as in people will be living as if the judgment of God will not come. Why is that? In Matthew’s account Jesus says the people did not know or understand anything about what was going to happen… read more
The wrath of God is being sent to the earth. Christ is opening the seals and His wrath and judgment are causing great destruction and death. In the first four seals there are already catastrophic events and death.
- The white horse with a rider that has a bow and a crown to deceive the world.
- The red horse with a rider to take peace from the earth.
- The black horse with a rider carrying scales. Without great wealth, food will be a struggle everyday.
- The ashen (pale green) horse with a rider whose name is death. Death will dominate from here forward.
Now We Come To The Fifth Seal
Revelation 6:9 When the Lamb broke the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God, and because of the testimony which they had maintained; 10 and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” 11 And there was given to each of them a white robe; and they were told that they should rest for a little while longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brethren who were to be killed even as they had been, would be completed also.
The fifth seal reveals what is happening at the altar of God. The souls of those who have been slain during this time are underneath the altar of God crying out, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, will you refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who dwell on the earth?“… read more
